Thomas Dinesen participated as a volunteer in World War I, where he was attached to the Canadian regiment Quebec Regiment Royal Highlanders of Canada. He was sent as a private to the Western Front in France. Here he was awarded the British Victoria Cross on August 12, 1918 at Parvillers for bravery. (From Wikipedia)
